Back to Sanity
Friday, September 12, 2008
I'm back to my sane self now. I couldn't believe at first that I'm suffering from tremendous mood swings, personality change, LIGHT HEADEDNESS (On a high by Dunkan Sheik playing here, lol), yada yada for the past few days (right after being hospitalized, yo). Yup guys, you heard it right. I'm actually suffering mood swings, TREMENDOUS mood swings, lately; and of course I'm literally on a high (that explains my having a world of my own lately) during those times, no seriously. Thanks to high dosages of Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin, and Maalox, the doctor had prescribed to me (think 500g of metronidazole & maalox, 3x a day for 5 days and 1000g of Ciprofloxacin 1x a day for 5 days)--Boy, I'm getting nuts. It is just then that I've realized what ACTUALLY did happened. Just right after I've experienced going to school, again. Shoot there! Imagine, losing your trail of thought for 5 days. Grabe lang.
Now, I'm back. Medications have stopped, and I've missed out a lot lately. Most esp. on PHC-1 and RLE . shoot shoot shoot! It is just then that I've realized that what I've done in my health history is a total failure (I'm doomed). It is just yesterday that I've learned how to do the PROPER WAY of doing such paper works (Health history, norms & standards, blah blah).
Don't worry guys, I'm ok now.
I just need to embrace TIME MANAGEMENT properly.
(For Nursing students out there, I tell you; my health perception and coping & stress mechanisms have totally transformed ;p)
I'll be inactive for a while. Bye.

in a dash

Just came back from the hospital, omg. omg. Got lots of good things to say here, but i can't seem to find the right time to do it before~darn
eight. Ok so since I've missed
5 days of my oh-so-precious classes,
3 midterm exams, hours to do piles and piles of paper works,
imaginary numbers of quizzes, seatworks and whatnots; a little blogging won't hurt I guess, yes? Yes.
Ok so, the main culprit for my being hospitalized (for the first time, note there) is the three-lettered
shit spelled as R.L.E.
Courtesy to non-med readers who are reading this right now, chances of you not knowing what Related Learning Experience a.k.a. RLE are quiet high, so I'll tell you not to mind it anymore cause I'm pretty sure you don't wanna go see hell yet, not now, don't you?
So yeah, I was saying that RLE triggered the
typhoid cells in me to sprung out of their system (I'm quiet a fan of R.Papa foods kasi, haha) and give me viola- thypoid fever, tonsilitis, & amoeba bacteria. That bitch! :P
Anyway, I just saw in MTV (for the love of God, its been weeks/months since I last got hold of the remote control, thanks RLE you're so effing great) that
Sugarfree got a new song! Wooo, it simply means that they already have their 4th album lurking around, omg omg! I'll grab a copy of their new album as soon as I confirm it.
Stupid me for not knowing this, its as if committing blasphemy.Didn't mean to sound like a
dumbass here, i'll do better next time.
EDIT. This is one crappy post, i know.

Mayflowers Bloom
Friday, May 2, 2008
1st day of May, labor day.
Woke up at around 5 am because of my freaking dysmenorrhea and I must say it really really really sucks. Things get even worse at 6 fucking something am because a brownout occurs. My father invited me for a breakfast in Jollibee or McDonald's because it was really hot but I just asked him for a tablet of pain killer instead --Arrgh the pain is really killing me!! Anyway, enough about cramps.
When I logged onto multiply, I saw
Martin having a list of May celebrants in his blog. I was about to that too (naunahan lang ako cause I woke up late na rin) because I also know a lot of people (including myself) who'll be celebrating their birthday this month. So here I am coming up with a list of May celebrants at hand. Hooray for my birth month! ;]
*May
6 7 8 9 11 13 14 17 19 20 23 24 27 30
note: Please roll your mouse over the numbers to see whose birthday is it on that day. Asterisk [*] indicates the celebrant's link for days having more than one celebrant.

Dizzy Girl

Munching big bites on my kamoteng kahoy makes me wonder, what is it in this crop that makes me so dizzy?
I searched the net and holy cow, I found this.
Cyanide Theory - when eaten raw and with poor preparation, cassava roots can kill because it is very poisonous. It contains a bitter substance, a cyanogenetic glucoside called phaseolunatin, which breaks down upon harvest into the toxic hydrocyanic acid (prussic acid or HCN), acetone, and glucose by the action of the enzyme linase. The HCN can kill instantly by inhibiting respiration. The lethal dose for humans is 150 milligrams.
Detoxification of the tuberous roots can be done by hydrolysis by soaking the roots in water, crushing or cutting them, or by boiling them. The HCN content varies in tubers obtained from different locations or different varieties. In sweet varieties --- known as sweet potato or Impomoea Batatas L., most of the acid is located in the skin and the exterior cortical layer and concentration seldom exceeds 50ppm of cyanide. However, in bitter and wild varieties, the acid is uniformly distributed in all parts of the roots.
The symptoms exhibited by the victims shortly after eating the tainted cassava were diarrhea, stomach pains, dizziness, salivation, frothing, and cyanosis.
I nearly freaked out upon reading this. And then, I remembered the issue about
cassava poisoning few years ago. I'm really worried about being poisoned and stuff. Thoughts of me being rushed into the nearest hospital cross my mind for a split second. I can see my uncle's evil smirks (we have some issues, or so I thought) as if he's seeing this as a chance for revenge ( he's assigned in emergency room btw). But then I guess paranoia's taking its toll on me, again. Oh well, whatever. I'll just tell mum to be careful in preparing such the next time around. ;]
